African Lioness and Blue Wildebeest – Don’t Go Near The Water

Don’t Go Near The Water

A Blue Wildebeest herd turns and dashes up Sand River in the Masai Mara, Kenya as an African lioness bursts from the left.  Instead of pursuing an adult subject in the river, the feline focuses on a Wildebeest calf separated from its mother.  During contact with the youngster the lioness grabs its prey, seeks the calf’s throat and suffocates its victim.  It then drags the Wildebeest back across the river and pauses briefly with its meal before disappearing with it into the bush.  Lesson:  “Don’t Go Near The Water”.
