Black Bear – Mad Dash

Mad Dash

It was getting to be late and the light was rapidly ebbing.  We  were on our way out of the Park, moving in the direction of Yellowstone’s Northeast exit, when this burly Black Bear materialized from the margin of forest and brush.  Grabbing the equipment from the back and exiting the car, I married the lens/camera to the tripod head and went into work mode.  At first encounter the bruin appeared timid and apprehensive wandering around the brush, peeking furtively in different directions.  Suddenly, and for no discernible reason, it broke into a mad dash dissolving into the surrounding forest … its vanishing act an adjunct to the dwindling day.
