Eurasian Otter – Spraint

Spraint is the term used for the fecal remains of otters and locating sprainting areas [called latrines] is a method of detecting where these spunky critters might be observed.

Here, a young Eurasian Otter spraints on a bed of kelp near the shore of a Scottish loch.  This sprainting area did not last long, though, for it was “flushed” each time the tide washed in and out.  Luckily the behavior was caught without relying on locating spraint first.
