European Robin – An Elfin Bundle of Feathers

An Elfin Bundle of Feathers

While observing wildlife along the shore of a Scottish loch, we were endlessly entertained by the spunky movements of an elfin bundle of feathers known as the European Robin.  The European Robin is a five-inch tall member of the group taxonomists call the Old World Flycatchers.  Not closely related at all to our much larger American Robin [actually ours is a thrush], this tiny avian entity bounced jauntily up and down the rocky shoreline searching for prey, more than likely insects.
