Fox Squirrel – High Wire Highway

High Wire Highway

The power line provided a perfect avenue of trek for this Fox Squirrel … a high wire highway so to speak.  Fox Squirrels are not native to the western states but are an introduced species that have established themselves and thrive in many city parks and urban settings.  On a heavily overcast day this ambitious rodent hastily removed peanuts from a squirrel feeding station and was on its way to its cache.  Plucking its prize from the food tray, the spunky creature leaped into a nearby tree from which it then hurled itself onto the power line.  It then performed a high wire act that would be the envy of The Flying Wallendas!
