They’re Back! They’re back from south of the border! Each year we look forward to seeing the return of this elfin member of the Tyrant Flycatcher family arrive, build their nests and raise their young. Last week I thought I heard a male announcing himself in our nearby woods. Yesterday that voice was confirmed and then this sprightly character showed up. Lightning Fast We caught this Chestnut-headed Bee Eater in Wilpattu National Park, Sri Lanka, making multiple trips to its subterranean nest site to deliver meals to its hidden progeny. After delivering the nosh, the adult would wait momentarily at the burrow entrance and then explode away.
