Through The Lea It was very late on a clammy afternoon. The coolness was finally replacing the humid heat from earlier hours and ‘creature activity’ was erupting in the meadow. A White-tailed Deer fawn found it to its liking to expend some pent-up energy as it scampered, bounded and streaked through the lea. ~ Anecdote and White-tailed Deer capture, Through The Lea © Jerry L. Crossing The River of Fire The setting was ablaze with the stain of autumn and in the still of a vividly-hued morn a White-tailed Deer doe herd magically materialized on the marge of a muted, meandering waterway. Their appearance was steeped in ghostly silence as they pregnantly paused streamside. Intrepidly, the deer stepped into the richly-tinged flow. In their march through the moist medium they appeared to be Crossing The River of Fire. ~ Anecdote and White-tailed Deer capture, Crossing The River of Fire © Jerry L. Ferrara

Posing Perfectly There’s a seemingly never-ending show occurring at our home. It’s in full view from our porch. Though appearing perpetual, there are moments of intermission in the performance … yet it continues both day and night. The actors and actresses are of mixed backgrounds, but all deliver their roles quite artfully. ~ Anecdote and White-tailed Deer doe capture, Posing Perfectly © Jerry L. Ferrara

Blowing Raspberries There was no derision or disrespect intended by this alert White-tailed Deer doe as she was caught with her tongue ‘snaking’ out of her mouth, looking like she was blowing raspberries. The nervous posture didn’t last long, though, as she and her herd members continued their search for snow-covered apples. ~ Anecdote and White-tailed Deer capture, Blowing Raspberries © Jerry L. State-of-the-Art Z9 On December 24th, 2021, I was pleased to receive my copy of the much anticipated state-of-the-art Nikon Z9 mirrorless camera, the manufacturer’s newest flagship “image-making machine”. Over the days following receipt I’ve configured and worked with the instrument, often during challenging lighting and environmental conditions [temps ranging from 7º to 14º F, contrasty as well as low light levels and rain/snow storms. While I haven’t yet come close to tapping the full capacity of the camera’s features, it is proving to be an outstanding product and tool. Kudos, Nikon! ~ Anecdote and Idaho Wildlife/Nature images, State-of-the-Art Z9 © Jerry L. Ferrara
